Shirley Ann Easterling

August 20, 1946 — October 23, 2021

Shirley Ann Easterling was born August 20, 1946, in Brenham, Texas to Alvina “Sissy” and Alfred Oscar “Challie” Luedke. She graduated high school from Centerville High School in 1963, after which she had various jobs and lived in various parts of Texas. In 1974, Shirley began working at the Madisonville Mushroom farm. In 1978, she began working for Sears for twenty years and then ten years at TDC in Huntsville before retiring.

Shirley married Billy J. Easterling in October 2002, in Centerville, Texas. They lived in the Centerville/Leona area until building their new home in 2014 in Huntsville.

Despite having been born and raised in the country, Shirley did not fish or hunt or ride horses or play sports like the rest of us! Even though her interests were different from most of us, she cared deeply about her family and loved them all very much. Shirley and I talked often in these last few months and every time, when saying goodbye, she would send the call with, “I love you!” She was proud of her kids and her grandkids.

She and Billy loved to eat out. A few of her favorite spots were The Olive Garden, The Leona Steak House, and Sam’s in Fairfield.

Shirley liked to shop online. She began collecting ceramic birds. One of her favorites to collect were hummingbirds. Shirley even had hummingbird feeders outside her window so she could watch them feed. She also enjoyed working puzzles and listening to audio books.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Sissy and Challie Luedke; her granddaughter, Myra Coldiron; her daughter-in-law, GeeGee Coldiron; and her brother-in-law, Billy Guyton.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Billy J. Eastering; children, Tessa Lynn Luedke of Dayton, James Coldiron of Huntsville, and Tracy Thompson of Friendswood; seven grandchildren, Erica, David, William, Adam, Jamikay, Dustin and Corey; fourteen great-grandchildren, Dylan, Brianna, Michael, Lindsey, Sherry, Dakota, Mareck, Eli, Ethan, Chase, Urijah, Ainsley, Addison, and Sheldon; and her sister, Alvera “Tootsie” Guyton of Huntsville.

Shirley will be missed in our day to day lives but will live on in our hearts forever.
