Shirley Bilsing, of Normangee, Texas, passed away March 17, 2023 at her home.


Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Sunday, March 26, 2023 at First Methodist Church in Normangee. Interment will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, March 25th from 3:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. at First Methodist Church in Normangee. Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas in entrusted with arrangements.


Shirley was born in Moose Lake, Minnesota at the family farm. She graduated from Maplewood Academy at the age of sixteen. She loaded up her car and spent the next couple of years traveling and working. She arrived in Bryan, Texas around 1954, settled there and became a diehard Texan. She met Mark Tenalio, who was stationed at the Air Force Base, and they married in 1956. They had a son, Steve, who was born in 1958. Shortly after this they separated and divorced. She then met the love of her life, Dr. W.A. "Bo" Bilsing, II. They later married and had a daughter, Cindy, who added to their growing family.


Shirley attended University of Texas Medical School in Galveston and earned a nursing degree. She attended SHSTC earning a bachelor teaching degree and later TAMU earning a master's degree in English. She faithfully attended her children and grandchildren's special events, sports activities, and many other special moments. She loved when all her family gathered for July 4th, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. She was Past Matron of Normangee #87 Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a faithful Masonic wife, supporting Bo in all of his Masonic activities.


She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family fiercely and enjoyed spending time with them.


Shirley was preceded in death by an infant sister, Barbara; her father and mother, Stanley and Anna Goike; her brother, Ted Goike; granddaughter, Tammy; her precious granddaughter, Anna and the love of her life, her husband, Bo Bilsing.


She is survived by her sister, Mary; her children, Billy & Kay Bilsing, Steve & Arleen Bilsing, Kathryn Bilsing & Jim Dilamarter; Steve Tenalio, Dean & Tracy Bilsing, Sherry Bilsing-Graham & Mark Graham, Paul Bilsing, Karen Bilsing, Cindy Bilsing Mckinzie, Michael Ray and Amber George; her grandchildren, Bert & Heather Bilsing, Kimber & Todd Butley, Leah & Kevin Hamill, Adam Bilsing, Andrew Bilsing, Bernie & Lora Smith, Kirk & Stacy Collier, Duncan Wheeler, Sam & Danielle Bilsing, Hugo Bilsing, Gavin Graham, Jessica & Reagan Roberts, Eli Bartnett, Asa Bartnett, Austin Bartnett, Tyler Bartnett, Caleb George and Artemis Ray; and her great-grandchildren, Creek & Sawyer Chappell, Bo & Brianna Bilsing, Cassidy Bilsing and fiance, Hunter Dudley, Serenity, Bryanna & Jimmy Godinez, Chelsea, Emily, Pepper, Dylan, Thatcher, Cameron, Cade, Calle Sloane and Braxtin.


The family would like to thank all the special friends who have prayed with and supported them during their time of loss.
