Susan Raska

June 6, 1959 — January 23, 2024

Susan (Pate) Raska, a beloved daughter, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2024, in Bryan, Texas. Born on June 6, 1959, in Hearne, Texas, she was the daughter of Bobby Ray and Shirley Faye (Bell) Pate.

Susan grew up near the beach in Angleton and Lake Jackson, where she developed a love for the ocean and the serenity it brought. She worked as a dedicated waitress, always ensuring that her customers were well taken care of with her warm smile and friendly demeanor.

Susan's joys in life were simple yet meaningful. She found solace in the pages of a good book and took pride in her thriving garden, tending to her plants with loving care. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, especially while in the presence of her youngest, dear grandson. Susan's love for her family was unwavering and brought her immense happiness.

A woman of faith, Susan was a member of Miracle Christian Center in Buffalo, Texas. She found solace in her spiritual community and was known for her kind-hearted nature and willingness to help others in need.

In her younger years, Susan had a passion for cooking and delighted in creating delicious meals for her loved ones. Her talents in the kitchen were admired by all who had the pleasure of sampling her culinary creations.

Susan's memory will forever be treasured by her daughters, Miranda Tijerina of Buffalo and Cassie Woods (Houston) of Centerville. She will also be dearly missed by her brothers, Morgan Ray Pate (Trenda) of Centerville, Bobby Ray Pate, Jr. (Brandy) of Centerville and Denny Pate of Centerville; sisters, Bobbie Kay Huffman (Brad) of Buffalo, Linda Noseff of Idabel, OK and Deanna Pickens (Ryan) of Midway; grandchildren, Gavyn, Grant and Grayson Tijerina; great-grandchildren, Kamryn and Kynleigh, and fur-babies, Daisy and Lucy, as well as friends, neighbors, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

As we gather to celebrate Susan's life, a memorial service will be held 1 P.M., Friday, February 2, 2024 at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
