Tammy Kaye Millican, a cherished soul whose life was a tapestry of heartfelt dedication, rustic charm, and tireless service, passed peacefully on April 12, 2026, in Bryan, Texas. Born on April 29, 1961, in Italy, Texas, Tammy (McRae) embodied the spirit of a true country girl, plain spoken and deeply devoted to the rhythms of the land and the warmth of family.

Tammy’s journey through life was marked by a profound commitment to caring for others. She trained as a CNA and NICU nurse, a vocation that spoke to her nurturing nature. Furthering her expertise, she earned a dietician license from Angelina College. Early in her career, Tammy worked in home healthcare, attending to those in need with gentle hands and a compassionate heart. Yet, it was her dream and true calling to own her own restaurant, where she held the helm as lead cook, pouring love and soul into every meal she created.

Her essence was woven with the simple joys of homesteading—gardening, crafting home remedies from the fruits of her own garden, and living intimately with the land. She treasured her farm animals and reveled in the outdoors as a young woman, hunting and fishing with a confidence that marked her as a self-proclaimed tomboy, never given to frills or pretense. Tammy lived authentically and with a quiet strength, a beacon of authenticity and resilience.

Family was the cornerstone of Tammy’s world. She grew up alongside her two brothers, Calvin McRae and Jonathan Warren, who preceded Tammy in death, along with her nephew, Christopher McRae. She lovingly helped raise several family members who became close to her, nurturing and guiding with the steadfastness of a heart overflowing with care. Though her mother Shirley Ann (Abbott) McRae and father Perry Calvin McRae preceded her in passing, their legacy lived on through her.

Surrounding Tammy in her final moments were those she loved most: her devoted husband, Kenneth Millican; her sons, Gary Paul Monthei, Brodie Dale Monthei, Johnny Millican, and Trevor Millican (Mary Lou); her daughters, Deidre Jolene McRae and Shawna Barco (Gilberto); and her sister, Tesa Wilson (Robbie). Her legacy is further carried by her beloved grandchildren, Emily Monthei and Kaden Lambert, and the loyal companionship of her cherished furry friend, Charlie.

The community is invited to honor Tammy’s memory at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. Her funeral service will follow at 10 A.M. on Friday, April 17, 2026 at the same location. Bro. James Rosier, pastor of New Salem Baptist Church, will officiate the service.

In a quiet yet profound way, Tammy Kaye Millican’s life was a hymn to simplicity, love, and the enduring strength of family ties. To know her was to know the tenderness behind a plain spoken word, the humility of a life lived fully on the land, and the timeless embrace of a woman who was, at heart, a country girl through and through. Her memory will forever echo in the gardens she tended, the meals she shared, and the hearts she touched.

Final arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas -- A Walters Family Funeral Home.
