Listen to Obituary

Thelma “Eloise” FitzGerald, born Thelma Eloise Walker, passed away on September 6, 2026, in Marquez, Texas, surrounded in love by those she held dear. She was born on March 5, 1934, in Kosse, Texas, and lived a long life marked by devotion to family, steady work, and the simple joys that made a house a home.

A graduate of Kosse High School, Eloise went on to spend most of her working years in eyeglass production. She raised her family in Houston, where many of life’s important memories were made, and in 2001 she moved to Leon County from Houston. Through every season of life, she was known as someone who kept busy with both skill and heart.

Eloise enjoyed cross stitching, knitting, gardening, and cooking, and she was good at them all. The things she made and the care she gave through those everyday gifts reflected her warmth and her quiet talents. She also especially enjoyed camping and was a member of a camping group known as the Texas Tick Pickers, a part of life that surely brought her friendship, laughter, and many treasured times outdoors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Clinton Walker and Molly (Graham) Walker; by her husband, Wilbur Raymond FitzGerald; and by her brothers, Cecil Walker and Vernon Walker.

Eloise leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward with gratitude and affection. She is survived by her sons, Shannon FitzGerald of Marquez and Patrick FitzGerald of Corsicana. She also leaves her grandchildren, Finn Ryan FitzGerald of Spring, Aubin Aline FitzGerald of Brooklyn, New York, and her husband, Drew Krassowski, Escher Graham FitzGerald of Georgetown, and Alyssa Renee' FitzGerald of New Zealand. She is also survived by her brother, Clayton Walker of Conroe, and his wife, Ophelia. In each of their lives, her love and presence will remain a lasting blessing.

A time of visitation will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.  A funeral service will commence at 2 P.M. at the same location.  Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery.
