Thomas Lawrence Nolen

A public memorial service for Tom Nolan will be held at North Creek Baptist Church in Centerville, Texas at 11:00 A.M., on April 9, 2022.

Thomas "Tom" Lawrence Nolen, 90, of Leon County passed from this life to his heavenly home on March 23, 2022. He was born to Harvey Albert Nolen and Ola Josephine Harris in Post, Texas on January 31, 1932. He had a very full life working in numerous fields including insurance salesman, truck driver, a school bus driver for Buffalo ISD and a Veteran’s Service Officer of Leon County for two years. He also served in three branches of service: Army, Air Force and Marine Corps.

Tom loved working in the community. He volunteered at the food pantry, and wrote many articles for the Buffalo Express Newspaper introducing the community to families that lived in the area. Tom loved serving at his church, North Creek Baptist. Many may recognize him as the one who collected information for the U.S. Census Bureau.

Tom was preceded in death by both of his parents; his brother, Harvey Albert Nolen, Jr.; sisters, Rosemarie Adams and Patricia Sanders; two great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and first his wife, Glendola (McLain) Mills. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-four years, Harue "Spring" Nolen; his children, Nellie Ann (Nolen) Miller and husband, Rick of Pineville, Louisana, Dana Nolen of Port Huneme, California, Ola (Nolen) Purslow and husband, Del of Buffalo, and Thomas Nolen, Jr. and wife, Renae (Butler) of Buffalo; as well as, ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the Nolen family kindly requests donations be made to North Creek Baptist Church Food Pantry: North Creek Baptist Church, 8153 FM 3178, Centerville, Texas 75833.
