Vanasa Lynn Cates

Vanasa Lynn Cates, age 60, of Leona, Texas passed away in her home Wednesday, February 8, 2023 surrounded by her devoted family. A funeral service honoring her life will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. Chaplain Charles Loving will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Allphin Cemetery in Madison County, Texas.  A brief visitation will take place from 12 Noon to service time at the funeral home.

Vanasa was born December 12, 1962 in Nacogdoches, Texas, the youngest of three children, to Vernon Dudley & Rosa Lee (Byrum) Kitcher. She was raised in Nacogdoches where she graduated high school. Vanasa was a devoted housewife and homemaker to her husband and son her entire life. She enjoyed fishing and traveling with her son. She and her family had lived in Leon County the past twelve years, coming from Nacogdoches.

Vanasa was preceded in death by both of her parents. Surviving family members include husband, Charles Cates of Leona; son, Cory Cates of Leona; brother, James Kitcher and wife, Rebecca of Nacogdoches and sister, Suzann Poskey of Nacogdoches, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
