Vernon Eugene Hewett, Jr.

Vernon Eugene Hewett, Jr., age 48, of Huxley, Texas, was born on June 17, 1975, in Houston, Texas to parents, Vernon Eugene, Sr. and Velma Sue (Griffith) Hewett. He spent his life working in the oilfield and had built a career in the industry since 1999. Throughout his life, Vernon found joy in collecting old coins and baseball cards, as well as any antique items.

In recent years, Vernon made the warm communities of Walker and Shelby Counties his home.  He passed away May 2, 2024 following an extended illness.

Vernon was preceded in death by both of his parents; maternal grandparents, Velma West and Earl Maurice Griffith and beloved pet, Chopper.  He is survived by children, Paige Hewett, Cole Hewett, Joshua Hewett, Morgan Hewett and Megan Collier; step-sons, Justin Warren and Jeremy Corn; life partner, Elizabeth May Smith; wife, Ashley Hewett; siblings, Mark Anthony Hewett, Timothy Ray Hewett, Sheila Lynn Wiggins, Crystal Gayle Brown and Lisa AnnMarie Darnell; as well as five granddaughters, and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.

Final arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
