Wanda Louise (Mabry) Combs was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born in Liberty County to William Benjamin Mabry and Fannie (Peet) Mabry on June 18, 1938. She lived most of her life in the Houston area and worked for the US Postal Service for thirty-one years. Upon retirement, she moved to Leona, Texas and enjoyed a more peaceful, and simple life.
She loved animals, and always kept dogs, cats, chickens, donkeys, and cows. She also had nontraditional pets that included a squirrel, an opossum, and a myna bird. However, she had a special place in her heart for horses. She most recently raised paint horses, providing these beautiful animals for others, as well as owning many herself.
She loved her family, and was known to many as Mom, Grandma or Granny. Besides having her own children, stepchildren and adopted children, she became a second Mom to anyone who needed guidance. She loved sarcasm and laughed with her family and friends often.
Wanda is survived by her daughters, Donna Angers and husband, Carl Angers, Kate Combs and Mary Qualls; grandchildren, Victoria Helmer, Jennifer Bradshaw and husband, Elbert Bradshaw, III, Tiffany Daily and Paul Qualls; great-grandchildren, Kymberleigh Starkey, Nicole Helmer and Jimmie Starkey; and niece/caregiver, Pat Henderson. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Wade Combs; both of her parents; brother, James Mabry; sister, Dolores Mabry Martinez; and great-grandson, Robbie Faske.
