Wilma Joyce (Hlozek) Lahrssen, a beloved figure and buoyant spirit, departed this world on January 31, 2026, in College Station, Texas, at the age of 93. Born on December 22, 1932, in East Bernard, Texas, she carried the warmth of her East Texas roots throughout her life. Wilma's laughter echoed in the hearts of those who knew her, a testament to her humorous personality and joyful spirit.

Retiring as an appraiser for Harris County Flood Control, Wilma's professional life was marked by dedication and expertise, yet it was her personal passions that truly defined her. A devoted member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Houston, Texas, Wilma spent her later years in Buffalo, Texas, where she was a cherished member of the community.

With a vivacity that illuminated the lives of many, Wilma found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether indulging in rousing games of Bingo or lively square dancing, her zest for life was infectious. She loved gathering with family and friends to play Skip-Bo and reminisced about cherished times spent along the San Bernard River or on memorable hunting trips with her late husband in Junction, Texas. Her adventurous spirit even led her to enjoy jovial excursions to Coushatta Casino, where laughter and camaraderie thrived.

A proud gardener, canner and baker Wilma continued the beloved traditions handed down by her mother, nurturing plants, preserving flavors and perfecting her kolache recipe to pass on to her grandchildren. Her legacy of love extended beyond her own, as she touched countless lives with her caring and generous soul.

Wilma leaves behind her cherished daughters, Theresa Pugh (Larry) of Raleigh, Mississippi, and Donna Golden (Richard) of Buffalo, Texas; as well as her step-children, Ginny Perren (Terry) of Junction, Texas, and Laurie Castle (Sammey) of Brazoria, Texas. A sister to Mary Jane Walleck of Rosenberg, Texas, Wilma was also the proud grandmother of six, a doting great-grandmother to nine, and a cherished member of a large extended family and circle of friends.

Though she is preceded in death by her mother, Mary (Svetlik) Hlozek; father, Alfons Hlozek; husband, George Lahrssen; daughter, Barbara Morgan; and five siblings, the memories and legacies she leaves behind will continue to inspire and resonate with her loved ones.

A funeral mass to celebrate Wilma's vibrant life will be held at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church in Buffalo, Texas, on February 7, 2026, starting at 11 AM with interment immediately following in Siloam Cemetery.

As we remember Wilma Joyce Lahrssen, let us hold dear the laughter she shared, the love she spread, and the moments that made up a life so beautifully lived.
