Obituary for Charles James "Jim" Kelly, Jr.

Jim Kelly, age 69, of Buffalo, Texas, passed away Wednesday, June 26th at about 6:10 AM in Bryan, Texas surrounded by his loving family after a brief, yet valiant battle with cancer. Born Charles James Kelly, Jr. February 22, 1950 in Coffeyville, Kansas, he was an only child to parents, Charles Sr. & Wilma (Wallace) Kelly.

Jim served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and had worked for NRG (originally HL&P) since 1979, starting as an inspector and working his way up to superintendent of inspection services. He lived with his wife, Jennifer, in Buffalo for the past thirty-seven years, coming from Wallis, Texas.

Jim was an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying grilling, archery, hunting, working on guns and fishing whenever he got the chance. He also loved old westerns and mowing the lawn when even a single blade of grass got out of line.

Jim was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by wife, Jennifer (West) Kelly of Buffalo; children, Timothy Kelly of Buffalo, Kyle Kelly of Houston and Lori Kelly of Buffalo.

Memorial services honoring Jim’s life will take place at 10 A.M., Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas. Rev. Alan Grisham, pastor of First Baptist Church in Buffalo, will officiate the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas.
